High Court Affirms Solicitors’ Liabilities for Representing An Imposter

Upon appeal to the Klang High Court, the Court affirmed the finding of the Sessions Court and held, inter alia, that a firm of solicitors which acted for a fraudster who masqueraded as a landowner /vendor was in breach of warranty of authority and committed negligent misrepresentation. The firm of solicitors was further ordered to pay damages to the purchaser (First Respondent) who was misled by the said solicitors into entering a sale and purchase transaction with the fraudster.
